Butterfly

The stories that were told

Of meadows of flowers on pastures green

Heavy with perfumes and butterflies

A heroic Prince coming to rescue

Swords, mails and horses white

Walking around in glass slippers,

Chasing a fairy tale, in a ballad or song.

But if you are skeptical now, keep reading on.

Oh the sweet rush of first love

Makes heart giddy

Wishful eyes, everlasting promises,

A knight in shining armor, convulse a catharsis.

Remember that flutter of pulse

Only did it end in a trifle.

"You are not pretty enough",

They leave; With your heart in million pieces,

You trip into an abyss of self loathing and shame.

Advent of new moon brings a spring of hope

New love as fresh flowers bloom

Dancing into Enchanted dreams

A moment of shared laughter and tears

Was it gone before the summer nears.

"Someone better is out there who laughs a little more,

Can bring me joys you've never known".

You break apart at every word,

Why the world doesn't understand the kindness of your heart ?

None to tell you it'll be alright,

That you are beautiful, smart and all other pretty lies.

A new hand to hold on,

Another slim ray of hope,

There'll always be something amiss in you,

How can you evolve ?

Endless snow and storms raging strong.

Cascades of people,

Alas! where do I find home ?

Battling demons night and day,

"Am I enough?", the mind replays.

Perhaps, changing

Into someone else will work.

With every fall, you hide your smile

Been afraid to celebrate joys for a while.

You'll lose everything in the blink of eye,

Fear stops life way before you die.

Like the warmth of sweet sunshine on a winter morning,

There is solace in family,

Born into or found along the way.

They hold you when things get tough

and laugh at your jokes

The comfort of hugs, late night talks

The sweet notes of love,

Strumming  chords of heart.

For a moment, it's sunshine and hay

Only if the course of life ran the ideal way.

People you surround with

Hold your hands for a while

On moors of desert

They quench the thirst

But the moon waxes and wanes

Days full of Sunshine and rain

Life is a long yet a beautiful journey

Of exhilarating joys and excruciating pain.

Today, I hope, as you look in the mirror

You notice your scars look a bit prettier,

They are but a memoir of all the battles you survived.

And the twinkle in your eyes

May shine a little brighter.

Humans are merely a reflection

of vast oceans of  Your love.

And a butterfly has emerged finally from its cocoon,

As wings sprout from your shoulders,

Ready to take flight into vast skies,

Out will come a timid voice from inside

You have believed in every one for so long,

You are fiesty, full of love and amazingly strong.

You can take that faith and put it in yourself ,

It's time to believe in the possibilities lover.
